2021 Guide To Spa Acne Treatments

Treating Acne In The Spa Can Be Highly Effective

An Acne facial is on many of the spa menus in the United States. In 2019 there were over 21,000 spas in the United States, and that number doesn’t include solo estheticians. When you consider how many locations in the U.S. can offer acne facials, it’s easy to see that consumers have access to acne facials.

We want to showcase spa acne facials and acne home care products, that consumers can get from estheticians and day spas!  Our goal is to show that, while many times consumers assume they need to go to a physician, it can be as easy as booking an appointment with a local esthetician and getting one or 2 home care products. Solutions can be simple and easy to access.

Quick Reference Guide To Understanding Acne

What Causes Acne

Acne is often an inherited condition of the pore and is onset by the following factors : hormones, retention hyperkeratosis and c. acnes bacteria (which was formerly known as p. acnes bacteria). Though there are many triggers for acne, retention hyperkeratosis is the real culprit here. A normal skin will shed 1 layer of skin per day within the pore, whereas an acne prone individual will shed up to 5 layers, which becomes (literally) a sticky situation when the body cannot keep up and the pore becomes clogged. This clog creates the perfect environment for anaerobic c. acnes bacteria to proliferate. The overactive pore becomes an acne lesion starting as a microcomedone and it evolves into a blackhead, whitehead, pustule, papule, cyst or nodule, depending on the circumstances.

5 At-Home Acne Facial Tips

1 Get A Powerhouse Cleanser

The best thing you can do for an at-home acne facial is to keep it really simple! Especially if you’re treating clients who have no at home routine. Often times, keeping it simple with a single step or two step at-home routine is a great way to get them “on board” so to speak.  The number one product for an at-home acne facial routine is a cleanser.  Dermaki has great options, their Acne Cleanser is a low foaming lotion style cleanser featuring natural ingredients that is suitable for acneic skin. Gently cleans and pulls out impurities. Dermaki’s Acne Cleanser imparts silky smooth softness, and skin that looks, and feels balanced.  Pair with Acne Treatment Face and Body Bar.

2 Take Your Cleansing To A Whole New Level

Getting the excess sebum off of the skin and keeping the pores clean is crucial when doing at-home acne facial routines. You can take your cleansing step to a whole new level by adding some technology. Using MYSKINBUDDY’s ionic technology, thermal technology and ultra-sonic vibration create the perfect trifecta of cleaning power!  The ionic technology pulls trapped dirt and debris, the thermal technology softens sebum and the ultrasonic vibration helps to gently dislodge trapped sebum and debris in the pore.

3 Use An Acne System

If you have clients who you know will be compliant on a consistent basis, you can suggest the Acne Rebalancing Set from Sesha Skin Therapy. It’s a 5 product curated collection of products designed to combat acne while cleansing, treating, and hydrating the skin for a clearer complexion. Applying the correct products each day will help prevent oil build up in the pores, comedones such as blackheads and prevent acne bacteria from spreading.

4 Get A Good Spot Treatment

One brand that has luxurious and therapeutic products is Immunocologie. Their Vital Clay Spot Treatment his fast-acting spot treatment is specially formulated with three different rare-earth clays and 12 essential minerals to help draw impurities from the skin and target blemishes

5 Oxygenate Your Skin From The Inside Out

Oxygen, blood flow and lymph flow are the enemies of acne.  Ensuring that your skin cells are functioning at optimal levels is crucial.  On top of great at-home acne facial products you add microcurrent.  While microcurrent is usually thought of as an anti-aging treatment, the therapeutic benefits of the ClareBlend Mini from MedSpa Distributors will work to help diminish acne breakouts.
