Audia Skincare is the new kid on the block in professional skincare and they are not to be overlooked.
Founded by Amal Aloudi, who took 4 years to painstakingly curate a collection of professional and retail products. When we found Audia skincare we were intrigued, we wanted to find out what the brand was all about so we asked for a collection of products to try and then set up interviews with Audia’s Amal Aloudi and Michele Phelan to get to know more about the brand.
We got to use the products for a month and were impressed by the luxury experience Audia Skincare offered especially because it is such a strong, scientifically-based brand.
2 Audia Skincare Professional Only Products
The first thing we asked was what professional-only products they had to offer for estheticians to use in the treatment room. We were thrilled to learn that Audia Skincare has a selection of professional-only products, with plans to expand this segment of their line in the coming months.
Illuminate Signature Mask
The Illuminate Signature Mask is a very cool product, we got to know it well because it’s in our article 15 Science-Based Skincare Solutions. We added it to this article because it’s truly unique. You mix the mask from Audia Skincare with Hydrogen Peroxide. We also had them on during a Webisode of L+A Now, Using Science In Your Beauty Business. During this webisode, a very astute viewer asked if there was any concern about free radicals with this oxygen treatment.
Michele was the Audia Skincare panelist on the webisode and had a fabulous explanation. “You may wonder how the oxygen effects of the mask don’t create free radicals in the skin. There is a little bit of chemistry involved. When hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is added to the mask powder the yeast present in the mask contains a natural enzyme that separates H2O2 (the hydrogen from oxygen). As the oxygen separates from the formula it creates that foaming effect that you see when the hydrogen peroxide is mixed with the powder.
In general, when the bonds of oxygen are broken, the oxygen has the potential to steal an electron to stabilize itself from the vitamin C in the product, or from the skin itself, which could lead to free radical damage under normal circumstances. But not in this case – strategically we added silk protein, allantoin, and alpha-arbutin to the product which serves as a stabilizer/anti-oxidants. These antioxidants donate an electron to the free oxygen atoms to stabilize the situation.”
