Brand Expansion and Whole Body Wellness Dominate ESI Toronto

ESI Toronto felt like being at home in the States! There were so many brands present that have expanded distribution into the Canadian market, including:

Celluma
DermaJEM
Dermalogica
DMK
France Laure
GlyMed+
Lycon
M.A.D Skincare
Sorella Apothecary
SilhouetTone
BiON
E.F. Tropics

Plus, a few Canadian-based brands like Nelly du Vuyst, TheraGenesis (Balnea Spa Products), and Vitelle Labs.

This market is craving education, and estheticians are devoted to learning and growing their offerings to provide clients with cutting-edge treatments. The Spavaro booth had constant traffic, as they provide top-notch education for the brands they distribute.  Each brand had a representative devoted to providing demonstrations and product knowledge.  The DermaJEM and M.A.D treatments were booked all weekend!

There were also demos taking place at DMK International and Sorella Apothecary. We were thrilled to see both lines at ESI this year, and chatted with Emily Sidlinger, co-founder of Sorella:

“We have had a Canadian distributor for 5 years, Elite Beauty Management but this was our first year exhibiting at the ESI show. We have been wanting to do this show for years because we always wanted the opportunity to showcase our brand to this market. We felt like we made a splash at this show since it was our first time exhibiting and made some great connections.” Emily Sindlinger, Sorella Apothecary.

We also spoke with Aly Maver, International Sales Director at DMK International:

“This was our second ESI show (first was in Vancouver in March) and we were particularly excited to showcase in Canada’s largest city! ESI Toronto was AMAZING!!! Danne Montague King was in attendance and he lectured, narrated the enzyme treatment at the booth and had a long line for his book signing. We had hundreds visiting us over the two eventful days. DMK Canada did a wonderful job! I could not be more proud of their hard work and tenacity!! Gooooooo DMK Canada! ” Aly Maver, DMK International.

There were also several new body-based devices/treatments that caught our attention. The MOOR Spa Integrated Spa System is designed for body wraps, salt glows, aromatherapy, hydrotherapy, massage, hair treatments, and more. We loved this system because it transforms any spa dry room into a hydrotherapy set-up. The system includes a wet table, six-head Vichy Shower, steam canopy, and handheld shower. A hot and cold water supply, drainage access, and a minimum 10 x 15 ft. space are all that is required for the system.

We also saw the Cocoon Pod, which is the ultimate wellness tool to upgrade self-care routines, with soothing massage vibration, aromatherapy, and infrared dry heat. We chatted with the team at Uvaluxe about wellness trends in the Canadian market:

“One of the biggest paradigm shifts we’ve seen over the past few years has been toward a focus on boosting immunity, recovery, and prevention. Health is finally being understood as a holistic state where both body and mind play essential roles.

The growth of interest in well-being targeted to lifestyle is part of a much larger and deeper trend of fitness moving away from diet culture and towards being a part of overall health and wellness. People are more focused on engaging in healthy activities that help restore, maintain, and improve whole body health.” Angela Dimmell, Uvalux Cocoon Pod
