Illuminating White attacks the hyperpigmentation issue from different angles. Darkly pigmented skin is caused by excess production of melanin in the body.

When there is too much melanin production, dark spots may appear in different areas of your body such as your face, neck, chest and arms. The reasons for dark spots on your skin are varied. Skin injury or disease such as acne or eczema can trigger the skin to produce more melanin, certain skin procedures like chemical peel and laser therapy may also lead to dark spots. Too much sun exposure, hormones, or the effects of certain drug medications are also some of the reasons why you have those unwanted spots on your body as well.

When applied directly to the spots themselves, overactive melanin production is halted by stabilizing the tyrosinase, thus inhibiting the activity of the tyrosinase, which is an enzyme responsible for melanin synthesis. On the surface, our lightening agents are at work lightening your spots and healing your skin at the same time. We recommend using directly on the discolored spots until they are gone and then the entire face or other areas can all be lightened together. Illuminating White will itself cause slight desquamation of the skin creating a fresh healthy glow!​

Use Illuminating White on clean skin, applying the serum directly to the dark spots. After it dries, apply sunscreen SPF 20 or higher for daytime, at night follow with moisturizers.

Keep in mind that tyrosinase production is halted by the treatment. Tyrosinase is a copper-colored enzyme that is responsible for the dark color. The dark spots will appear again in the same places because of the overactive production of melanin. We recommend continued use.​
