A Diverse Journey to Skincare Excellence
Before diving into the world of aesthetics, Kieran navigated a diverse career path, from working at Dairy Queen as a teenager to supporting individuals with behavioral issues as a Direct Support Professional, and later bartending to support herself and her family. A dedicated mother of three, Kieran’s life took a transformative turn when she sought treatment for her severe acne. This personal struggle with grade 4 acne began at age 21 and ignited her desire to help others achieve healthy skin.

In 2018, driven by desperation to clear her own skin, Kieran visited Neaman’s Med Spa in Salem for an aggressive chemical peel. There, an esthetician who had just graduated from Spectrum Advanced Aesthetics recommended the school. After touring Spectrum and hearing firsthand about founder Mary Nielsen’s profound philosophy, “there is enough skin for everyone”, Kieran knew immediately it was the place for her.
Attending Spectrum full-time from mid-2019 to January 2020 while bartending nights to support herself and her family, Kieran was especially drawn to the school’s exceptional hands-on training. She firmly believes this immersive approach uniquely prepared her to launch Saije Esthetics, remarkably, just one month before the pandemic struck.

Acne treatments constitute approximately 60% of her business, with the remaining 40% focusing on age-management. Kieran operates under the medical oversight of Nurse Practitioner Elana Scharff through a collaborative agreement, ensuring clients receive the highest standard of medical guidance and care.
Additionally, Aesthetics Medispa, a complementary practice, offers facials, chemical peels, and nail services, serving as a bridge practice that allows Kieran to provide clients with more comprehensive and advanced skincare solutions.
What is a Bridge Practice?
Over the past five years, as Lipgloss + Aftershave has engaged with skincare professionals nationwide, we’ve identified an emerging trend: estheticians passionate about advanced clinical skincare expanding their scope of practice by partnering with medical directors. This partnership allows estheticians to offer advanced treatments typically reserved for medical professionals.
We call this innovative business model a “Bridge Practice.” Here, an esthetician owns and operates the practice in collaboration with a medical director. This arrangement grants access to physician-exclusive cosmeceutical brands, advanced modalities such as microneedling and laser therapies, and referrals to medical directors for injectable treatments, significantly expanding their service capabilities.
