Esthetician + Spa Owner Reviews L+A

Kelly Conlan, LE

Lipgloss and Aftershave helps me stay informed and confident as an esthetician. I never worry about being out of the loop or misinformed in front of savvy clients because they consistently breakdown what’s new, what’s real, and what’s worth paying attention to. I trust them because they test what they share and give honest feedback. On top of that, they are down to earth, genuinely welcoming, and incredibly appreciative of their community, and you feel that the moment you meet them virtually or in-person.

Stemming from the surge in overall wellness and improving systemic wellness, including nutrition, using high-performance ingredients, getting an adequate amount of sleep, balancing gut health, exercise, and preventative care, skincare specialists are seeing a reformation of the skincare industry – one focused on longevity. The Oxford Languages defines longevity as ‘long life’ or ‘long existence’.  Gone are the days of quick fixes, and here are the days of focusing on skin longevity – the art of long-life skin wellness, cellular health, and skin vitality. And it’s shaping the current and future growth of the industry.

The multidimensional wellness movement has exploded in the professional skincare industry. There is a growing emphasis on “treating” signs of aging for prevention, long-term skin health, and optimal cellular functions.

Skincare professionals are embracing longevity methodologies when treating and educating clients, targeting underlying factors and cellular longevity. These factors result in prolonged benefits, long-term cellular health, and efficient cellular communications.

Systemic Longevity

Systemic longevity and body functions go beyond aesthetics —it’s a critical component to the overall function and emotional well-being of the entire body’s interconnected systems, including immune regulation and inflammatory balance. As the largest organ, the skin is directly influenced by cellular health, hormonal balance, and immune function.

The connection between longevity and long-term skin health, and their role in managing signs of aging, has often been overlooked. However, being the body’s largest organ, the skin is directly affected by oxidative stress, metabolic efficiency, and immune regulation. Optimizing systemic wellness provides the groundwork for cellular longevity, improved immune function, and prolonged improvements in skin’s appearance.

The shift in the skincare industry highlights the critical role systemic health plays and how it affects the skin. Skin and systemic longevity rely on healthy cell functions for long-term wellness. When cells function optimally, skin maintains a healthier texture and resilience. When these functions falter, the barrier weakens, signs of aging appear, skin dulls, and cells may even die.

Longevity-focused approaches are driven by preventive care, high-performance ingredients, advanced skin correction, and state-of-the-art technology.

Preventative Care

A preventative approach to skin focuses on longevity and is wellness-driven. Just like eating well and exercising promote health from within, preventative skincare protects the skin from premature aging and tames current signs of aging. Skin damage can be caused by environmental and mental factors such as pollution, sun exposure, pollution, and stress.

High-Performance Ingredients

High-performance skincare ingredients deliver targeted results, encourage change, and promote cellular longevity. These powerful actives boost cellular communication, help skin cells maintain higher function and longevity, regenerate healthy new cells, reduce senescence and oxidative stress, support mitochondrial activity, promote functional cell renewal, prevent premature aging, and stimulate collagen and elastin synthesis. High-performance ingredients include scientifically proven antioxidants, AHAs, growth factors, retinol, and niacinamide.

Advanced Skin Correction

Sometimes cellular health is severely compromised, and there are visible signs of damage. Revitalization, rejuvenation, and restoration are key when addressing compromised skin with advanced correction. Baby Boomer generation and those with previously damaged skin, advanced correction techniques can promote biological changes and have a profound impact on skin health. Biological changes can effectively enhance how cells function, improve skin integrity, and strengthen and revitalize the skin barrier.

Advanced correction involves combining modalities, offering benefits that topical products alone can’t provide, and working on multiple skin layers. An esthetician can help correct visible damage, reinvigorate cellular functions, increase new cell longevity, and deliver amplified results. Skin in need of advanced skincare correction typically includes continuing and/or complex skin concerns needing professional intervention. Advanced skincare correction includes using topical skincare formulated with high-performance ingredients in combination with chemical medi-peels and/or devices such as microneedling, IPL, and laser treatments. These combinations deliver more targeted, effective, and longer-lasting results.

Technology Advancing the Longevity Movement

Technology is helping support skincare longevity. From AI analysis to enhanced delivery systems, including IV therapy, wearable patches, and nanotechnology, all contribute to helping skin vitality. Advanced devices, comprised of laser, microneedling, nano fusion, and radio frequency and LED therapies, all contribute to healthy cells and skin longevity.

The future of professional skincare is rooted in longevity-focused methodologies designed to support lasting skin health. Results are geared toward visible, lasting change, enhanced cellular function,s and prolonged benefits. Healthy systematic longevity is becoming the standard in and out of the treatment room – and you’re part of it!
