The Heart Behind Spectrum’s New Spanish-Language Esthetics Program

When Mary Nielsen nominated Ana Copca as Spectrum Advanced Aesthetics’ Featured Skincare Professional for July 2025, there was a wave of excitement—and not just from the L+A team. Ana represents the kind of transformational energy the aesthetics industry needs: compassionate, forward-thinking, bilingual, and rooted in community.

Thanks to Spectrum for sponsoring this article so we could share Ana’s story.

As Spectrum launches its Spanish-Language Esthetics Program, it’s fitting that Ana is front and center. With a rich cultural background, a decade of leadership experience in trauma-informed care, and a passion for holistic beauty, Ana is a living, breathing example of what it means to blend heart, heritage, and hustle.

Barry Eichner of L+A summed it up perfectly:

“We are thrilled to learn that Ana will be working on the Spanish Language Course. It’s such an amazing way to positively impact the medical + spa skincare industry.”

And once you hear her story, you’ll understand why Ana is the perfect woman for the job.

From Mexico City to Multilingual Esthetics Educator

Ana was born in Mexico City and moved to the United States at the age of six. Her childhood was bilingual, bicultural, and beautiful. She grew up speaking Spanish at home, with her mother instilling in her a deep respect for their heritage, cultural traditions, and the healing power of natural beauty rituals. At school, Ana absorbed the American experience—becoming fluent in both English and the art of straddling two worlds.

In 2013, Ana took her passion a step further and enrolled in a one-year beauty program back in Mexico. It was here that she immersed herself in Latin American skincare, haircare, and nail techniques. This experience strengthened her identity, deepened her knowledge, and ignited her dream of someday blending cultural wisdom with professional education in the U.S.

She didn’t know it then, but this dream would eventually lead her to Spectrum Advanced Aesthetics.

5 Fun Facts About Ana (That Prove She’s Basically a Marvel Hero)

  3. Martial Arts Maven – She trained for three years in Krav Maga, kickboxing, and Jiu-Jitsu.

Professional Roots: Morrison Center + Trauma-Informed Leadership

Ana’s leadership journey began at the Morrison Center in 2014, where she started as a Youth Care Worker while attending community college. Studying psychology and drug & abuse counseling, Ana became deeply committed to trauma-informed care and youth mentorship—especially within the Latino community.

By the time she left Morrison ten years later, she had worked her way up to Program Director, leading with compassion, cultural competence, and a drive to uplift everyone around her. She learned every role, mentored dozens of young professionals, and never lost sight of her mission: to serve others while growing into the fullest version of herself.

“Showing up for youth with compassion during challenges made all the difference,” Ana said. “I was empowered, so I made it my mission to empower others.”

The Spectrum Shift: From Director to Esthetics Visionary

After nearly a decade of non-profit leadership, Ana began to dream about something more creative—something that combined her love for people, skincare, and cultural empowerment.

Enter: Spectrum Advanced Aesthetics.

When Ana first discovered Spectrum, it was during a search for a “side hustle.” But it quickly became much more than that. After a campus tour, she enrolled without hesitation. In June 2023, Ana completed the Standard Esthetics Program and earned her license by September.

She launched her own solo esthetics practice and began seeing clients immediately—but her impact wouldn’t stop there.

Soon after, Spectrum’s visionary leader Bea, approached Ana with an idea: Would she be interested in helping develop a Spanish-language esthetics program?

Ana’s answer: A resounding yes.

Developing the Spanish-Language Esthetics Program: A Dream Realized

Now, Ana is working alongside Bea at Spectrum to develop and teach the Clinical Master Standard Esthetics Program—entirely in Spanish.

Using the Spanish Milady curriculum as a foundation, Ana has helped translate the course and supporting materials to ensure Spanish-speaking students receive the same premium-level education as their English-speaking peers.

“Education should be accessible to everyone,” Ana emphasizes. “Our goal is to empower Spanish-speaking students while building meaningful relationships with Latino and Hispanic community leaders.”

This isn’t just translation—it’s transformation. Ana is helping create an educational bridge that brings cultural nuance, inclusivity, and empathy into the skincare classroom. The program is designed not just to teach technique, but to uplift voices that have been underserved in the beauty industry.

She and Bea are also exploring funding opportunities to help students overcome financial barriers to entry.

Ana’s Role at Spectrum Today

Ana now teaches in both the English and Spanish Clinical Master Standard Esthetics programs. Whether hybrid or full-time, Ana brings the same fearless energy to every classroom.

She approaches education through a trauma-informed lens, understanding that beauty is deeply personal and often tied to emotion, identity, and self-worth. Ana trains future estheticians not only in technique—but in empathy.

“I believe the aesthetics industry can benefit from trauma-informed practices,” Ana says. “That begins with how we talk to clients, how we build trust, and how we create safe, supportive spaces for healing.”

Community Coordinator for Fearless Beauties

Ana’s leadership journey continues outside the classroom as well. She’s joining Fearless Beauties as a Community Coordinator, where she’ll help connect estheticians—especially those from underrepresented communities—with resources, mentorship, and a sense of belonging.

It’s the perfect extension of her mission: to lift others, break barriers, and redefine what professional beauty looks like.

Advice to Aspiring Estheticians

For those considering Spectrum, Ana has a simple message:

“You’re about to make one of the best investments in yourself. Spectrum offers exceptional training, high standards, and an education you’ll be proud to represent anywhere. If you’re looking for a school that nurtures growth, professionalism, and community, this is it!”

Looking Ahead: Ana’s Vision for the Future

Ana’s goals for the future are rooted in equity, education, and empowerment. She wants to:

  • Expand Spectrum’s Spanish-language offerings.
  • Incorporate mental wellness and trauma-informed care into mainstream esthetics education.
  • Build bridges between U.S. and Latin American beauty education.
  • Inspire a new generation of bilingual estheticians to lead with heart, skill, and purpose.

Her journey—from Mexico City to esthetics innovator—is proof that honoring your roots and embracing your evolution aren’t mutually exclusive. Ana Copca is proof that when beauty meets purpose, lives are changed.

And she’s just getting started.

L+A is honored to celebrate Ana Copca as the July 2025 Featured Skincare Professional for Spectrum Advanced Aesthetics. She’s a force for good, a visionary educator, and a bold new voice for inclusivity in the skincare space.

Stay tuned—Ana is rewriting the future of beauty, one student at a time.
