Almost As Gross As Dr. Pimple Popper

Does anyone else get totally fascinated by Dr. Pimple Popper?  There is something so rewarding about watching “that” come out…knowing that little pore is on the road to recovery and healing.

Since I have always been enthralled by the idea of ridding your body of unnecessary/excess /toxic things (see this article for a complete run-down on a true cleanse I recently did), I naturally went into the field of esthetics.  Having the ability to purify skin, peel away layers, and reveal glowing skin beneath the surface just seemed like a perfect fit.

“So of course I was up for the challenge…would it hurt? Would it burn? How many days was this going to last?”

So lets fast forward 15 years to when I came across a product that promises to peel away layers and layers and layers of dead skin from my FEET.  The pictures that they showcased seemed unreal…who even has that much skin on their feet to start??

How the socks look right out of the package. How the socks look right out of the package.

Meet BabyFoot

According to the BabyFoot website, it is a peel formulated specifically for your feet, and “contain 17 types of natural extracts which exfoliate and moisturize at the same time. In addition, the Fruit acids such as Glycolic Acid and Critic Acid allow the dead skin cells to peel, but the Alcohol makes the dead cells soft, and the Salicylic Acid, Lactic Acid and Isopropyl stimulate a flaking effect as well. The fruit acid penetrates into the layers of dead skin cells and breaks down the desmosomes (like a glue between your skin cells) which hold the layers together. By this process, skin is undamaged but peels easily away from the fresh layer beneath.”

I’m totally up for this.

“The hardest part was finding a solid hour in ONE day where I could sit, uninterrupted without having to chase around a 3 year old.”

How It Works

You slide your feet into two separate plastic socks filled with a gel-like substance.  It is cold!  You then wrap a little tape around the ankles to ensure the goo doesn’t ooze out of the bag and all over your couch.  Then, you slide cotton socks over the baggies and sit.  For an entire hour.

So, I sat…for an hour…in the most comfortable sweats I own from Tobi; (they actually make sweats look cute).

A full hour in my favorite Tobi sweats was the perfect ending to my New Years Day. A full hour in my favorite Tobi sweats was the perfect ending to my New Years Day.

“Bonus: It doesn’t affect your polish at all!”

After the hour is up, you slide the baggies off and rinse your feet…and that is it!

I’ll admit, I was a little unimpressed: I didn’t feel a thing.  I was expecting at least some kind of tingle or sensation…nada.  So now you wait…for about 7 days.

And when that 7th day arrives…you’d better hope you get to wear socks for the next 7 days, because what is about to happen is just disgusting.  Sheets and sheets of skin just seem to peel away from your foot.  Similar to a really bad sunburn on your back that starts to peel a few days later (without the discomfort), this skin is fairly thin and literally falls off your foot.

My socks were filled with dead skin, my slippers were filled with dead skin, and my yoga mat was covered in dead skin.

It’s totally disgusting/rewarding.

It took about 7 days for the major shedding process to stop, but there is still a bit left.  I’ll be sure to post a final picture of the before and after when the entire process is complete so you can see if it was worth it.

Thank you to Tobi clothing for sponsoring my at-home spa day!
