8 Tips To Growing Your Esthetic Sales Revenue

1 Commit Dedicated Time to Manage the Business Nuts and Bolts

Besides providing hands-on services, you need to take care of banking, bookkeeping, ordering supplies, retail management, social media, and client outreach. You always think you’ll get to it, but time flies by, and before you know it, you’re stressed, swamped, and beginning to feel burned out.

Dedicate a half-day to administrative tasks. Block yourself out of the schedule and use the time constructively to keep yourself and your business organized. If you aren’t digital, invest in a budget and receipt journal. Pop your receipts each month into the pocket. These journals are super inexpensive (check Amazon) and will help you truly see where you are budget-wise.

2 Consolidate Your Ordering of Supplies and Retail

Do as much online as you can. Don’t waste time going from physical store to physical store. Your time is valuable and can be spent working on tactics to boost your esthetic sales revenue.

3 Book ALL Promos and Events for the Year NOW

Get a jump on a plan to boost your esthetics sales revenue! Look ahead and block out your Valentine’s Day promo, your spring break promo, your summer specials, Anniversary, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Oktoberfest, etc now! Get your vendors locked in for the dates so  you’re not scrambling.

4 Do What You Love

Skincare professionals are rarely ‘numbers’ people, so find others to handle tasks they excel at, allowing you more time with your clients so you can generate more esthetic sales revenue.

You can find small bookkeeping services to manage your financial picture relatively inexpensively. Bringing another person onto your team as an independent contractor will free up time to add another client or two to your schedule, rather than spending a frustrating day doing data entry. You can sleep at night, knowing it’s done right. In your administrative time, book a half-hour each month to review expenses and revenue with your bookkeeper. You might find some savings!

Do you have enough linen to serve your clients for a week? Buy enough. Consider hiring someone to do your laundry weekly or bi-weekly. I had an ambitious high school teen who was very affordable, picking up my laundry and taking it home, washing, drying, folding, and delivering it back twice a week. The regulations in my state allow for non-commercial laundry service as long as commercial-grade detergent is used. This allowed me more time to see my clients.

If you aren’t a social media wizard, consider pre-done templates through Etsy. There are multiple programs that allow you to create content and schedule it to be posted. I like Loomly. Again, book yourself some administrative time for social media. Or hire a high schooler or college student to help you. An easy post is to grab a ‘selfie’ with each client at the end of their service when they have their ‘glow-on’ and do a quick post.

Ask Dr. C

Dr. C AKA Dr. Chantal Lunderville, L+A’s Medical Editor, is here to help you learn and grow! If you have a question about the medical / spa skincare industry, this is your opportunity to ask a Board Certified Physician!

Ask questions about regulations, compliance, procedures, combining modalities, protocols, injectables, lasers, how to build your sales revenues, or how to build yourself as an expert!

5 Create a Passive Income Stream

With the pandemic, we all pivoted to drop-ship skincare. How about bringing back real customer service? Delivery! I had a program where if a client phoned in a skincare order by 1 PM, I would package it up, and my high school student would deliver it to their place of work or home by 5 PM. (Yes, the same high school student who was doing the laundry!) The student was paid minimum wage, and I more than made up for it in sales.

Everyone has a rewards program. Could you incentivize your clients to buy more skincare by offering a quarterly ‘free gift with purchase’ based on their skincare purchases? (We can thank Clinique for this!) I had a rewards program, and people would call a couple of days before each quarter ended to find out how much more they needed to spend to get the free gift.

6 Honor Your Clients

Recognize your clients’ special days with a little more personalization. Maybe you have a birthday special. For example, if your client comes in during their birthday month, they get 10% off their service. But how much more successful would that promotion be if you sent your client a personalized birthday card (in the mail), not just an email that could get overlooked? Buy some bulk birthday cards or postcards. Get stamps. You can order them from USPS online so you don’t have to waste time at the post office standing in line. You can pre-sign them with a birthday greeting, your name, and your birthday promo. Add them to a card file box or folder with tabs for the month. Address and mail at the beginning of each month. Add new clients to your file and I bet you see your client retention rate increase!

7 Optimize Your Retail Inventory

Run a report of your five lowest-selling retail products and stop carrying them. You can’t afford to have inventory that isn’t selling on the shelves. Keep your top sellers and use social media to promote them.

Make Time for Education and Networking

Don’t work in isolation. Find your tribe and spend time with them. You’ll feel inspired and energized. Make it a goal to attend at least one skincare conference, event, workshop, or training and connect with your esthetic fam.

I hope these tips motivate you to up your game in 2025 and find abundance!
