Complete Care For Dry Sensitive Skin
Dry sensitive skin is a very common skin situation for many people. There are many reasons that a person can have sensitive skin. It may be reacting to any number of things including: medicine, harsh topical skin care products, excessive exfoliation or environment pollution. Any of these can leave the skin’s natural lipid barrier compromised, resulting skin sensitivities, inflammation, redness, patches of rough skin and overall dryness.
Balancing The Skin Is Crucial
If you want to provide complete care for dry sensitive skin, your first step is to get it into balance. That can involve eliminating the extrinsic aggressor to stop the disruption. Many clients may not know that it’s a harsh cleanser, or skin care product. It’s key to get to know your client and their habits/lifestyle really well. In other cases it may be a medication / medical treatment like radiation or chemotherapy or the after effects of chemotherapy that are causing the reactive/sensitive situation. In this instance it becomes more about managing than bringing back into balance.
It may be as simple as eliminating a few low-quality skin care products, in most cases it’s changing to a gentler product line. PRO TIP: check the cleanser, the amount of manual exfoliation they are doing either at home or in treatments (maybe at another facility), this includes manual exfoliation and chemical exfoliation. The days of peeling a clients skin back to the bone are over!
If Cleanser Is The Culprit
You may find that the cleanser is the culprit, which can often be the case. So many consumers think that a cleanser needs to form a big foamy lather in order to get their skin clean. Obvi, we know that’s not true! Those lathers are usually stripping away the lipid barrier to give them that “squeaky clean” feeling.
Here’s a few cleansers that we love for dry sensitive skin. Hydra Dew Pure by Repêchage, has seaweed, Oat Bran and Water Lilly to nourish and calm. Take a look at Vitamin Veil By Circadia, this is an oil based cleanser with Vitamin E, which will help to restore the lipid barrier. There’s also Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser by LAROCHE POSAY, containing ceramides to help build the lipid matrix and Niacinamide, a form of B3, to help build up the skin and protect it.
A great tool to use with a cleanser is MYSKINBUDDY, its ultra-sonic vibration, gentle heat and ionic technology will all work to deeply and gently clean the skin. We suggest that you don’t use it on skin that is severely inflamed.

The Element is unique because it is so versatile and allows you to work on all skin types.
