Barry + Jenni of L+A Invited to Pisa, Italy To Tour CMed Aesthetics
David Burke of BioSkin Aesthetics is incredibly passionate about BioRePeelCl3. If you’ve ever spoken with him at a trade show, you know his enthusiasm for the product is contagious!
Knowing that L+A would be in Paris for IMCAS, David kindly invited us to the CMed Aesthetic launch party for their new European injectable, BioReFeel. The event was truly magical, held at Madame Brasserie on the Eiffel Tower! He also graciously invited us to Pisa, Italy after IMCAS, where Barry and Jenni spent three days with David and Shir Burke, along with the CMed Aesthetic team.
David and Shir wanted us to understand why they are so passionate about the BioSkin/Cmed family and showing us physically I must admit, did the trick.
There was a full tour of the existing manufacturing facility, which is a single building, and then a tour of a new, neighboring building that is currently under a multi-million dollar buildout. The CMed Aesthetics team also shared their current expansion plans including the construction of two additional buildings, giving them a four-building compound that will be interconnected with a sky bridge.
During our visit, we received a full tour of the current manufacturing facility/Lab and a neighboring building undergoing a multi-million-dollar expansion. The CMed Aesthetics team also shared their plans for two additional buildings, creating a four-building compound connected by a sky bridge.
This expansion will provide CMed Aesthetics with office space, a dedicated manufacturing facility for skincare, and a separate facility for medical devices. As BioReFeel is an injectable skin booster, it requires a separate facility for warehouse and shipping.
It’s remarkable to see how the company has grown from a single, innovative peel—a dream come true for the two Italian men who conceptualized it—to the expansive operation it is today.
It was a great pleasure to meet Andrea Malventi and Carlo Michelini, the creators of BioRePeelCl3 and co-CEOs of CMed.
Meet the Dolce & Gabbana of Medical + Spa Skincare: Malventi + Michelini
We had the incredible pleasure of meeting Andrea Malventi and Carlo Michelini, the masterminds behind BioRePeelCl3. Both are listed as CEOs of CMed on their respective LinkedIn profiles.
Curious about their journey, Barry asked Carlo to share the story of how he and Andrea met and what inspired them to create BioRePeelCl3.
Carlo said:
“To know more about our history, which is quite short but fast evolving at the same time. I met my partner Andrea in 2010, playing basketball for a team in Liguria close to La Spezia. We become good friend very quickly, we discovered that we were both passionate for fishing so our relationship start going beyond basketball, till the moment that we got to know we were studying the same university course. Andrea is 6 years older so that’s the reason why we never met before. In any case he graduated 6 months before me in 2015 and started working as quality assurance manager for a company in the sector of aesthetic. He let me in the company beginning of 2016 as they were looking for a production manager, a chemist. So I redesign their formulas and set up a new lab with the help of Andrea.
After about 12 months, we both realized that the situation was developing a little bit different respect to our thoughts, we had our own ideas, the employer had others, so we both quit the job to start our own company, matching the different specializations that we developed and hoping our strong personalities could help to launch a brand new project, 100 % self-financed in a competitive sector like the Aesthetic medicine is.
CMed Aesthetics was founded in August 2017, in September we immediately deposited the patent as the priority research gave the result that there was nothing like BioRePeelCl3 biphasic technology on the market. It took a couple of months to organize the production and print the boxes, then we started sales beginning of 2018 to local doctors in Tuscany. Our adventure took off from the mid of 2018, when we found good partnerships in Poland, then Ukraine, UK and Russia at the end of the year.
Since January 2019, it was a tornado of events and emotions, in May we employ the first person to help us with warehousing, at the end of the year we were distributing in over 20 countries and we had 5 people working with us with different roles.
In 2020 the raise was slower than expected because of pandemic, but we took that time to develop our product line, to buy a property warehouse as to build our own factory, so that we could start to produce on our own at the beginning of 2021, allowing the further boost to our growth that led us where we are today, 32 employees, 2 clean rooms, a subsidiary in the USA and lot of new project being launched very soon like the injectables and the new dedicated clean room.”
CMed Aesthetics Shows Barry + Jenni the Meaning of Italian Hospitality
Andrea and Carlo welcomed us with open arms, giving them a personal tour of their facility. Their intelligence and passion for aesthetics were nothing short of inspiring.
“We had an incredible time with Andrea and Carlo. They’re both incredibly kind and, frankly, an easy hang! We had a blast touring their facility.” — Barry Eichner
Their story mirrors that of many medical + spa skincare industry innovators. Two rock stars working tirelessly on an innovative product, refining it to perfection before taking the industry by storm.
“Andrea and Carlo’s journey is similar to those who have revolutionized industries: young, inspired entrepreneurs who started developing a product in their garage—or in this case, their kitchen—and worked relentlessly until it was perfected. We all know what happened next…” — Jenni Nagle
Of course, no trip to Italy would be complete without a little sightseeing.
“Not gonna lie—since I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa and Michelangelo’s David. Shir Burke didn’t let me down! She made sure to carve out time for Jenni and me to experience these iconic landmarks in person.” — Barry Eichner
Andrea and Carlo also treated us to an authentic Tuscan experience.
“They wanted to show us a piece of their world, so Carlo spent the day with L+A and BioSkin Aesthetics at Le Macchiole Winery in the Bolgheri region. It was pure magic—the landscape was breathtaking, and the wine? Absolute perfection! And of course, we tied it all back to skincare… can you say resveratrol?” — Jenni Nagle
The perfect day ended with an intimate dinner, surrounded by Andrea and Carlo’s fiancées, the BioSkin Aesthetics team, and CMed Aesthetics’ Russian distributors.
“Spending time with brands on a personal level is where we truly get to understand them—the passion behind their business, the ‘why’ behind their work. When we know the stories behind the products we love, it creates a deeper connection and appreciation for them.” — Jenni Nagle
Seeing the process behind BioRePeelCl3 firsthand—where it’s made, how it’s developed, and the people behind it—was an inspiring experience. Meeting the founders and witnessing their vision and passion firsthand made it all the more special.
